Designer spotlight

Diane Von Furstenberg was a society figure (she was once married to a prince) and fashion designer in New York when she started making her jersey wrap dresses in 1972.  The wrap dress was made popular by the Studio 54 crowd and the New York elite.  She now runs a multimillion-dollar fashion empire.

I have seen so many wrap dresses at lower end stores, believe me they do not compare to a DVF. The quality and  the drape of the fabric of the DVF wrap dress will make you feel like a million dollars.  I always feel so put together when I have one of my DVF's on.  Ms. Von Furstenberg does not stop at wrap dresses. Her entire clothing line is gorgeous.

Ms. Von Furstenberg has created a dress that will flatter any figure.  I love the prints she uses. I tend to stick to the black/white/grey combo's.  Those are the colors that I can wear to work. The wrap dress is my "go to" dress when I have no clue what to wear.  It is simple and easy to accessorize.  You can wear it to work then dress it up for an evening out.  They are just so versatile.

If you bought one of her dresses back in the 70s, you could still wear it today and be fashionable. It is well worth the investment considering the wear you are going to get out of the dress. Actually, considering the prices of her wrap dresses, I find it more of a value item than an investment.  That is why I love Diane Von Furstenberg designs.

Here are a few of my favorite DVF's
I make two stops on my way to work and I get complimented at least 3 times before I get to work and then all day long while I am at work with this dress.  I L-O-V-E it!  Did I mention how thin these dresses make you look?

This dress has paid for itself with the amount of times I have worn it.  I can get a totally different look if I wear it with tights and boots, cute peep toe pumps or strappy sandals.  This was the first DVF I ever purchased.

I am still waiting on this beauty to wear to my daughter's graduation in May.  I am thinking I need these shoes too! Love them!

If you would like to browse her selections go to www.dvf.com/

You can also check Saks Fifth Avenue, they usually have a great selection.

This is not a sponsored ad. I just want to share my love of DVF designs.

Happy Shopping!

Its ok Thursday 3-8

Its Ok Thursdays

I am linking up again with with Neely: A Complete Waste of Makeup and Amber: Brunch With
Amber Click the button above to visit and link up too! Yeah its Thursday!

"Its ok"

- That I felt like a loser at Walgreen's buying Poligrip and denture cleaner for my "flipper". Maybe Betty White needs a new BFF.

-That I am excited that my middle child will be home for a week starting tomorrow. Spring break! That means happy hours, shopping, nails and fun! (as long as she picks up after herself)

-That I plan on being out of the house all day today. I don't know what I am doing yet but it is going to be 66 degrees!

-That I have been out two days in a row looking for a tablecloth for my unusually sized/shape dining room table. I am never going to find one.

-That my daughters friends friend me on face book. I always ask her first if I should accept.

-That even though I discovered there is a hole in the bum of my leggins, I am still wearing them. Don't worry I am not wearing them in public. Now that I have admitted this publicly, I have to throw them away.

-That I am really missing my favorite grand baby lately. Time to book a ticket.

-That I really want a pet. I do not want a dog, I want a mini pony. An outdoor pet is the perfect pet for me.

-That March is usually my most hated month. It is not bothering me at all this year.

-To think that anyone over the age of 30 should not use the word "bounce" unless they are talking about dryer sheets or actually bouncing.

-That I am one stomach flu away from my ideal weight thanks to my dental surgery and not being able to eat much for a week. With my daughter coming home this week, I am sure I will be back to square one.

-To be excited when you hear birds chirping.

-That I bought beauty products for my friends Birthday and decided to keep one of the things I bought for myself. I will replace it with something else.

-That my daughter is dying to have me come visit her at school for a weekend. I hate driving so much that I may go back to school with her and have my husband come pick me up.

-That I have to pay my daughter to clean all of my floors for me. It is worth it for a week off.

-That I need to be done with this post so that I can enjoy this beautiful day!

Have a great Thursday!

Sunday dinner part 2

I am going to share my chicken cutlet recipe today. I always make at least 5 packages of thinly sliced chicken breasts. I always have some some left over to freeze. I use the left overs to make chicken parmigiana, chicken parmigiana subs, chicken parmigiana calzones and I sometimes cut them up and use it in my chicken alfredo. Chicken cutlets were always the one meal my whole family enjoyed.

First, don't forget to put snacks out. Not too many because you don't want everyone to be too full to enjoy your cooking!

First I trim all the fatty/ugly parts of the chicken. Even though I buy thinly sliced breasts I always pound out my cutlets so that they are really thin. I do not like thick cutlets. I put them in a ziploc bag and pound away. This is a great stress reliever too!

I then proceed to get my ingredients ready. I have a bowl of flour, a bowl of egg mixture and a container of bread crumbs.

You will need the same spices I used for my spaghetti sauce.

Egg mixture:
I use about 8 eggs.
Add parsley for color
half a teaspoon of garlic powder
half a teaspoon of garlic salt
half a teaspoon of onion salt
half a teaspoon of onion powder
a teaspoon of minced garlic (you can use more than this, I usually do)
half a teaspoon of pepper
not even a half a teaspoon of salt
I use an egg beater to blend it all up

Breadcrumb mixture:
I use a whole container of Italian style breadcrumbs sometimes more depending on how much chicken you are using. You can also use less if you are doing less chicken.
add all of the same ingredients you added to the egg mixture and mix well

Line up your bowls for easy dipping. Make sure you have a clean plate to put the breaded cutlets on.

First dip the chicken in flour, coat well.

Then dip it in the egg mixture

Dip it in breadcrumb mixture. Make sure you coat it well.

Heat your frying pan. Remember, hot pan, cold oil. I use an electric frying pan. Be generous with the olive oil. You want the oil to come up over the sides of the chicken so that they cook evenly.
I cook them on pretty high. You want them to brown but not too brown. I am using this batch for chicken cutlet parmigiana so I do not want them over cooked but they need to be crispy so that they are not soggy. You can usually tell they are ready to be flipped over when you see the edges turning brown.

After the cutlets are cooked, I let them cool a little. Spray a cookie sheet or a pan with Pam. Place cutlets on the cookie sheet. Add sauce to the top (use the recipe from Sunday dinner part 1) and add some mozzarella. Cook at 350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes or until cheese is lightly brown. Make sure you are boiling water for your pasta at this time. I love the new vegetable pasta. Serve with salad and garlic bread.

 Enjoy!
