Its OK Thursday 5/2

Its Ok Thursdays
"Its OK"
- That I have been enjoying some incredibly beautiful weather. I am so glad winter is over!
-That it is spring and that means the birds are back attacking my sliding doors. Its OK because I know they are just protecting their nests in the trees surrounding my deck.
see him on the railing just waiting to make his move?
notice the nice claw marks I have to clean off of my window?
-That my daughter and I went to trivia night at our local tavern and only made it through one round. We wanted to go and dance instead.
-That my daughter and I encountered this while out shopping. This is in fact a man. I have no words for this.

The man is on the right
-That when I went to get my car inspection sticker yesterday, an older gentleman insisted I go before him. The older gentleman that was going to inspect my car said "I would rather look at a smiling girl than an old man any day" I said, "So would I".  I am glad I could make him laugh. I knew he had a good sense of humor.
-That at our local grocery store the more you buy, the more points you get to save money at their gas station. It is always a race in my house to see who gets to use the gas points. I usually win (probably because I threaten sudden death to anyone who uses them) and of course I send everyone a picture to let them know I have won.
-That I had to turn down and overnight trip to Montreal. If it were a longer trip I would have been disappointed that I couldnt go. I love Montreal.
-That my daughter not only ordered, but bought some clothes for me (and herself of course) from a catalog we were looking at. What a good kid.
-That my favorite baby got her first haircut and looks adorable. She was not too happy during the process however.
-That I hope the growth they removed from my fathers nose turns out to be nothing.
-That I am in awe of my 94 year old Nana. She is staying with my parents for a week while my aunt and uncle are off celebrating their anniversary. She lives down the street from my aunt and they wanted her to have some company, so they brought her to my parents. It is not that she cant care for herself. She still lives alone, drives and still exercises. She is more like a 60 year old (and looks like a 60 year old). I love going to visit my parents when she is there. I just hope I have her genes.
-That while visiting my parents, I was looking around my mothers house for ideas for Mothers Day. For birthdays and Mothers Day etc, sometimes I would make up baskets of beauty supplies for my mom. I asked her if she needed shampoo or anything and she started carrying out boxes with all of my previous gift baskets. She had so much we could open our own beauty supply. She had a few of the bottles written on with marker that said wash, leave in 2-5 minutes, rinse. I asked her who wrote that and she said she didn't know. It turns out, she didn't know what to do with a lot of the things or had trouble reading the bottles. I told her to get me some post its, tape and a marker. I labelled everything and wrote specific instructions on what to do with it. It took me an hour. A note to my children, if there ever comes a day that I don't know what to do with a beauty product....You need to do something about me.
-That I love spring and summer because it gives me a reason to have sherbet. It is also artichoke season Yeah!
-That I have been changing up my black wearing ways. I try to wear color every day.
-That my excuse for not walking or going to the gym with my daughter is that I need new sneakers. Maybe I will go get some today....
-That my favorite time of day, well one of my favorite times of day besides happy hour, is doing face time with my favorite baby. Sometimes she is chatty, sometimes she hits the phone and likes to hang up on me but at least I get to see her. She is truly adorable. She has quite the little personality.

-That I actually had the energy to write today. Every Thursday my daughter comes home and calls me "lame" when I forget to post my "Its OK Thursday". She enjoys them apparently.
-That I am repetitive sometimes. It is not easy getting older.
Have a great Thursday!

Its OK Thursday 3/28

Its Ok Thursdays

"Its OK"

- That I finally took down my biggest wreath on my big window in the front of my house just YESTERDAY. It is the end of March. I am embarrassed. I climbed a ladder and did not even care if I bought the farm. It needed to come down. I wanted to hang my spring wreath for Easter. In our defense, the snow has been so deep that it was hard to get to. I can finally see grass on my front lawn.

- That I have been detoxing from my winter food fest for weeks now. I worked on Monday and I had to take my spanx off half way through my shift. I was seconds away from having my circulation cut off. How does that even happen when not one piece of chocolate or junk food has passed these lips in three weeks? I felt like I gained weight. While commiserating with my oldest daughter she told me "Mom, that's what happens, first you bloat then you lose the weight". I think she has watched the movie Mean Girls one to many times but that's OK. I don't think that's exactly how it works.

- That while at work on Monday I had just made oatmeal and had to put it aside because I needed to check out a client. The client saw my oatmeal and asked me if she ate lentils too would she be thin like me. Does oatmeal even look like lentils?
It was kind of ironic that she said that seeing that I felt like a tick ready to explode at any second.

- That I will be making two turkey breasts for Easter. My grocery store did not have one turkey that was not their brand. I am picky when it comes to my turkey. I guess we are weird for even having turkey on Easter. We are just not ham people.

- That my daughter is having a really difficult time with my favorite baby. She is up crying every night. She did have an ear infection but it has cleared up. She is still waking up. Maybe the poor thing is having night terrors. Who knows what goes on in a 2 year old mind. I feel so bad for her (the baby, not my daughter). I just hope she learns to behave. She doesn't realize she is blowing my chances for a second favorite baby.

- That I think we finally got rid of our pet. I had to stop feeding the birds and I feel bad about that.

- That my husband and I just celebrated the day we met 29 years ago. A lifetime ago it seems.

- That I will be steering clear of any fashion magazines for the next 3 months. I don't need to learn for the millionth time how to apply self tanner. I am sure they are all  getting their articles ready (like its rocket science). I will not however give up my US weekly.

- That winter is here. I cannot wait until Game of Thrones starts on Sunday. It will conflict with another of my favorite shows, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, but that's what a DVR is for.

Have a great Thursday!

Its OK Thursday 3/7

Its Ok Thursdays

"Its OK"

- That we are in the midst of yet another snowstorm. What a winter. I got everything done in the beginning of the week so it is really OK.

- That we still never shoveled our walkway from the last storm. It keeps the peddlers out right?

- That I am addicted to face book poker.

- That my daughter and I have been putting off three way calling my mother. We will do it today.

- That I made it to the gym this week and hated every second of it.

- That I hope I get my blogging mojo back.

-That I made my daughter brownies to bring to work yesterday. When I came downstairs this morning, she had a few of them separated and packaged up with candy. When I asked her what they were for, she said they were for the homeless people she sees on her way to work. I am glad that she has been working in the city for awhile now and is not cynical.

- That my husband has the option to either buy me a puppy or adopt a baby. I think he will go with the puppy.

- That I took every single nicknack from every corner of my house, including my dining room hutch and washed it one day out of boredom. It took all day long. That is why I need a baby or a puppy.

- That I tried a new nail salon yesterday even though my friend told me she thinks they give "happy endings" in the back. I did not witness any shenanigans. They did a good job. The place I had been going to for over 10 years changed ownership. They are not as good.

- That it will be another weekend of cooking and entertaining all weekend. I enjoy it.

-That while driving home from work, my eye felt blurry. I thought it was my contact. I was wearing my sunglasses and thought nothing of it.  When I got home, I realized that one of my sunglasses lenses were missing. I drove all the way home looking like a pirate and I didn't even know it. I felt like such a loser. How did I not know? I can only imagine what passing cars must have thought.

- That I love that my friends opened up their own salon. They do a fantastic job. I don't usually go for blowouts but I may just to go visit with them. They keep me young or at least young at heart. They want to keep me young too. No soccer mom hair for me. I will be the old lady with the long grey braid.

- That this is my daily spot. It is winter after all.
(with a Cosmo of course)

Have a great Thursday!

What do you do when you are snowed in?

You paint glasses of course.
Here are some of my latest creations.
I may be cross eyed by the end of the day working on them but it is worth it.

I made this glass for a give away for my daughters blog. It has been months since Sandy won but I just did not have the time. Sandy, if you are reading this, I am mailing this out to you today.

I finally made a glass for my daughter

I also finally made a glass for myself. I think  Cosmo's actually taste better in this glass. It could be that I have been using cran-cherry instead of plain cranberry. If you like Cosmo's and you like cherry, try it. It is so good!
I will probably be working on some new glasses tomorrow. We will be getting snow YET again.
I hope everyone has a great week!
How many days until spring?

Winter Wonderland

Or Hell?

The blizzard of 2013 started yesterday. We are all on lock down here in Massachusetts. The Governor has stated that if you are caught out in the blizzard it is a $500.00 fine or possibly up to a year in jail. I get that they don't want the gawkers out in this storm.

They are saying we have 24 inches and possibly will be getting up to 30 inches with 10 foot snowbanks. It is supposed to wind down at around 2pm today.

I had no plans so I really don't mind. I will however mind when I do have to go out. The town does a horrible job plowing and I can only imagine what secondary roads will be like.

I went to the grocery store on Thursday and it was a nightmare. That is my normal shopping day anyway. I really should have gone on Wednesday. Why does everyone need bread and milk when there is a storm? I just don't get it. You don't have that in your house already and need to stock up? If you didn't have it then you don't really need it unless of course you just happened to run out.

My husband went to get gas and the line was all the way out to the street.

Junk food fest will begin later. It is the end of the world right?

I think it would be a good day for a nice big breakfast. As you can see, all I can think about is food. What else is there to do in a storm? The news is boring because there is nobody out in the storm. I don't need to watch them showing me the snow on TV.  I can look right out my window and see it.

I may have to look in the basement and see if I saved my kids sleds.
I just wish my husband still had his riding snow blower so that he could pull me around in the sled.

Happy hour will probably commence earlier than usual. Do you blame me?
Pretty high snowbank
That is in fact my buried mailbox
I have an overhang over my front door but when I opened the door, this is what I got.
These are my husbands best friends, his grills, buried.
This is my sliding door in the family room. See how high the snow is on the deck?
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Please get out in your car and go somewhere for me.
 Can winter be over yet?

The Nail Files 2/1

Today I am linking up with Tara and Vicki for the Nail Files.

I haven't linked up with the nail files lately because I just haven't had a different manicure. I got a french gel manicure before I went on vacation 3 weeks and 3 days ago. Twenty four days to be exact.

As soon as I got home, I put a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails over it.
I packed twice, did about 50 loads of laundry, bathed a baby regularly and cleaned all of my bathrooms  and this is how my nails look today.
Not bad right? The growth at the bottom doesn't really bother me because it is not as noticeable as it would be with a color.
I am going for a mani/pedi this weekend. My cuticles are a mess and my nails need to be shaped. I did want to show how great Sally Hansen Hard as Nails really is. I swear by the stuff. I can guarantee my nails would not have stayed this nice had I not used it. If you don't own a bottle, go get some.
Have a great weekend!!

Its Ok Thursday 1/24

Its Ok Thursdays
"Its OK"

-That as much as I loved being on vacation and visiting my daughter and favorite baby, I LOVE being home.

-That my husband and I did not want to end our vacation so we took a vacation day after we got home and went for Chinese food and finally drank our New Years Eve champagne that I couldn't stay awake for.

-That I have so much to catch up on. I will get there eventually. Sometimes you just need to unplug.

-That I came home to a clean house. My husband cleaned and made sure I had a fresh bed and all of my favorite blankets were washed. He also cleaned and bleached all of the grout in my kitchen area. You have no idea what a daunting task this is. Its a big area to cover.
He likes to have a project when I go away. He did a great job. I am so appreciative.

-That I need to go check up on my parents (babies) today. It has been too long.

-That next time before I go away for so long, I will have to plan my waxing schedule better.

-That it is back to healthy food. I haven't cooked in probably 3 weeks. It is going to be hard getting back on track.

-That my favorite baby got a princess castle tent for her birthday. I would hide in it before she came downstairs in the morning. I would also hide in it when she woke up from her nap and my daughter would say "Where is Mimi?" The dog sometimes gave me away by coming in the tent for some affection. I wonder if she will look in there for me today when she wakes up? I miss her already.

-That I don't think I have driven in 3 weeks. I hope I remember how.

-That I passed along my nail polish obsession to my daughter. It could be worse right?

-That my favorite curling iron that I keep in the outer pocket of my suitcase got smashed to smithereens at the airport. I always put it there and I never have a problem. Good thing my daughter had the exact same curling iron and gave me hers because she never uses it. I will have to deal with the hockey tape on the lever if I have to.

-That I am wondering how my other daughter survived her laundress being on vacation. I haven't been in her room yet and I can only imagine the hamper situation in there. Maybe I will wait until tomorrow. I don't want to cry today.

-That I tried to pack my favorite baby in my suitcase but it didn't work.

-That I have to wait for my daughter to get home for her to download all of my pictures from my SD card onto my little computer. I know I am pathetic that I don't know how.

-That this is what my thermometer is saying. Do I really have to go out today?

-That I miss my friend ShaSha and our happy hours. I hope she can come over later.

Have a great Thursday!
