After I got over the initial achy feeling that you get when starting a new exercise routine, my body felt better. I have been sleeping like a baby. No more waking up hourly. I have more stamina. When I lie on the couch all day, I am lazy. When I work out in the morning, I come home and I just want to be active. I get so much more done. It makes me feel better about myself.
I am definitely one of those people who "go hard or go home". Once I start something, I go all out. The problem is if I stop, it is so hard for me to re-start. I am forcing myself through these first few weeks so that it just becomes part of my routine.
I have even gotten my husband to work out with me at times. He works from home almost all of the time. He will sometimes take a break to go on a walk. It's good for him. He needs to get up and move around and not be attached to his laptop. We are not spring chickens anymore. It is more of a health thing than a vanity thing. It might be a little bit of a vanity thing for me. I am NEVER going to give up. I will not be relegated to shopping in the Brigg's department of Macy's because I was too lazy. I will not wear polyester stretch pants because I couldn't resist the queso, then have to lie on the couch in a queso coma watching Bad Girls Club. That could easily be my future if I let myself go. I shudder at the thought.
I have plenty of time on my hands and I still have energy so why not be active? I have never been a lazy person and I am sure not going to start now.
This was yesterday's walk. I use this app on my iPhone to keep me motivated. It is just a simple pedometer app. I am also looking into adding hand weights/gloves.
I am going to use this post as a motivational tool for myself when I start to tell myself "you can take a break today". Hopefully it will help.
On another note, I am off to the airport in about an hour and a half to pick up my favorite little princess. Lord knows I need energy for her. She is so active. I am so excited to see her. I just hope my daughter brings the jogging stroller so I can take my favorite baby with me on my walks. Just hearing her giggle will give me all of the motivation I need to continue on my quest for a healthier lifestyle.
Have a good day!
I used to be so fit, but I'm in a bit of an exercise slump at the moment. I guess I need the motivation too!

ReplyDeleteYou are awesome!! Have fun with the princess!
ReplyDeleteYou might see your body firm up a bit before the pounds come off. Once you get your metabolism up, you'll burn more calories and it will be a beautiful cycle of exercise and energy. I always feel better after a workout. The harder it is, the better I feel. That's great you're getting your husband involved...it makes you and him more accountable. Have fun with it and enjoy your time with your daughter and those baby jogs :)
